How to Pay for Beauty School
You’re interested in a cosmetology or aesthetics program, but how do you pay for it? Don’t let financial worries keep you from applying and following your passions. There are multiple resources available to help students of all backgrounds to pursue their future careers. From federal financial aid and scholarships, to private loans, take a look and see what you might be eligible for. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is aid available to those who qualify in the form of grants, loans, and work-study funds. To apply for FAFSA®, you will often start by creating an FSA ID. You can expect to create a username, login, and provide personal information such as:
Date of birth
Social Security Number (SSN)
Email address and/or phone number
FAFSA® may also require you to provide proof of any income and/or investments to determine if you qualify for financial aid. After you have filled out your FAFSA, you can expect to receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) within three to 21 days. Your SAR is used by your school to determine if you are eligible to receive aid, and if so, how much you might receive.
There are a wide variety of scholarships available to students of all backgrounds, interests, and financial situations. We recommend using Fastweb to research scholarships you may qualify for. Fastweb is free to join, and you will need to create a student profile to match scholarships to apply for.
Don’t restrict yourself to scholarships that seem strictly cosmetology or aesthetics related, there are scholarships for everything! For example, during the summer, back-to-school scholarships are often available. No matter the topic or time of year, scholarships are always worth applying for!
Private loans through a bank or credit union may be available. Contact your bank for more information, or contact a member of our Financial Aid Office for a list of our Preferred Lenders that can be used when researching loans.
